THE WORTHY GRAND MATRON FLIES (It's safer than walking) Sister Eileen with her wrist in a sling. On returning home after a long absence on official visits she went grocery shopping to stock up her cupboards . On her way home from shopping she slipped and fell in the lane behind her home, breaking and dislocating her right wrist. She has decided it is much safer to jump off Mount Seven, to paraglide.
Take care Eileen and get better soon
On August 25, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. our Worthy Grand Matron, Eileen Palmieri, kept her promise to the Eastern Star members, family and friends and soared into the air from the top of Mt. Seven for the flight of her life. She became a paraglider in an Extreme Sport, thanks to the expertise of Hugo Tschurtschenthaler of Altitude Adventures.
Sis. Eileen’s motivation as our 100th Worthy Grand Matron was first to celebrate our Centennial Year in British Columbia & Yukon, and secondly to pay tribute to her mother, Kathleen Presley, who even at 89 years of age wanted to experience the same flight.
Many personal donations were given to sponsor her flight, all of which went to benefit the B.C. Children’s Hospital Foundation, the recipient of Sis. Eileen’s Special Project. To date over $700.00 has been given and the cost of the flight itself was generously donated by Altitude Adventures.
Photos of the exciting happening are attached.
