About Marvin:
Chilliwack Chapter #49  has as a fun emblem "Marvin the Moose".  The WM and her husband do lots of moose hunting, hence this fun guy.   He was given to her by her daughter Anne Blythe with the idea that Marvin will travel within BC to the various chapters.  To get Marvin, one will need to know where he is, so members can go to that chapter to get him.  Richmond Chapter #73 was the first to pick up Marvin.

Hopefully, members will email me when they get Marvin. I will post his new  location here and then chapters can go get him.

Where is Marvin now? GO GET HIM!!!
UPDATE ON MARVIN
Marvin the Moose really enjoyed his over the pond to the Island adventure.  We made it more exciting for him by smuggling him on board the Spirit of Vancouver Island, he liked the idea of a free trip in the event he fell over board.  I kept a strong hold on him and he discovered he didnt have to worry about falling in the ocean, but of all the little kids wanting to take him home.  However, we arrived safely and he is now enjoying the sea air and my, how he loves to watch all the boats in Brentwood Bay.   He keeps hinting that he would like to try his hand at fishing, just like Sister Goode and Brother Brown.  He will be attending his first meeting on the Island at Queen City #5 on May 28, 2008, and he is looking forward to meeting all the members here.  He told me he is not worried about going home with another member because he knows who ever gets him will keep him safe and he hopes they will spoil him a little bit.  I think he has discovered that Eastern Star members are the best and he wants to meet them all in the province of B.C. and beyond.

Well, I am sad to say that my stay with Carol is now over. Last night I was claimed by our own Sister Sharon Cormie Associate Grand Matron and am told that we are now heading for an island?? Oh, my goodness, that sounds scareyI I hope I can swim well enough - I left home at a very young age before my mommy taught me all there is to know about swimming. If I survive, I am sure I will enjoy myself with Sharon and the great members 'over there'. Here is a picture of Sister Cormie and me. Aren't I handsome?  I am the one in the middle.

From Richmond #73, I travelled to Langley #50 where Worthy Matron Carol Lyle of Friendship #75 in Vancouver picked me up on April 21. It was quite a nice trip - Carol lives in Abbotsford. I will be there until Friendship Chapter #75 has its meeting on May 6. I anticipate a great visit in the Valley and then on to Vancouver. My adventures are really off to a great time. Here is a picture of Carol and I having breakfast. Carol is starting to get use to my high fibre diet. I tell her every morning that it is healthy for her.

I wonder who will adopt me on May 6, 2008.

SEND ME YOUR PICTURE OF THE VISIT WHEN YOU CLAIM MARVIN.

SUNSET CHAT LINE:

Our Installation was well attended, with 118 members and guests present; the highlight of the afternoon being, the absolutely beautiful rendition of  ”All Through the Night” by our Worthy Patron’s daughters.  What talent!  On April 16th ninety members attended our Special Meeting, to hear Sister Donna Galpin’s, most impressive lecture on the “Weaving of the Labyrinth,” which by the way, was all done from memory.  This was followed by a very humorous presentation, of a new member’s perception of visiting a Chapter while on holiday.  Lots of laughter on this one.   Among the many visitors in attendance that evening, was our newly appointed Cancer Director, Sister Ruth Foster.  I was speaking with Sister Sheppard and she is making some progress, probably slower than she would like.  She is still at daughter Ann’s and looks forward to seeing us all soon.  She’d been to Langford the previous day and had enjoyed the outing.  Sister Martha Behnsen is not all well.  We’re thinking of you.  Hello to Sister Bellefeuille.  Sorry Bill is not well.  We miss you at Chapter.  Sister Elliot is back at her son’s.  Sister Mallery has had two falls, the last one resulting in a broken pelvis.  She will remain in Cowichan District Hospital, until suitable care can be arranged.  Her daughter says she would enjoy company.

PhotoFRASER- Gail Louise Gail Fraser born on March 23, 1942 in Moose Jaw Sask, lost her battle with cancer on April 5, 2008 at the age of 66. Predeceased by her father Stanley Knight, mother Muriel Knight and brother Bill Knight. She is survived by her Husband Earle, Brother Jack Knight (Penny), Daughters Deb Burgess, Carmen Fraser-Johnston (Joel), Son Chris Fraser (Sheri) and Grandchildren Isabella and Nathan Johnson. Gail was an active member of the order of the Eastern Star, serving as a Worthy Matron of Richmond and Coquitlam Chapters. Gail served a term as a Grand Marshal, and was currently in her seventh term as Director of Cancer Activities for the Eastern Star. Gail was truly the Family Historian, never forgetting an important Family Date and enjoyed hosting the many family gatherings in her home adorned with Angels. The family wishes to express our gratitude to Dr. Bourke in White Rock and his office staff for their care and devotion to Gail and the nurses who staff the Palliative Care Unit on the 6th floor of Peace Arch Hospital, you all are a very special group and the Care and Love you all provided was simply "BEYOND". A Celebration of Life Service for Gail will be held on April 18th, 2008 at 11am at St. Dunstans Anglican Church, located at 3025 - 264th St, Aldergrove BC. A private family interment will be held at St. Martins Church at a later date. Donations can be made to the BC Cancer Foundation, a cause served by Gail with the Eastern Star.

From Kootenay #55: At our April Meeting of -yep-April 1st --there was a late afternoonfire in her Apartment building which had smoke throughout all floors of the complex. As Chapter meeting hour drew near Fire and Rescue were still on the scene and nobody was allowed in-including Tenants. Stand around and wring your hands ??--not our Sister--she contacted the Worthy Matron just before the meeting and said if I can come dressed casually -I'll be there-If I have to have white-it isn't going to happen. The W.M. said you come in any way except naked-so she did. At the end of the meeting when all was explained her Sisters and Brotheres declared it was "Above and beyond the call of duty" and gave her thunderous applause. She is staying with her good Eastern Star friend and has no idea of when anyone will be back in their apartments-the building is still cordoned off with security on it. Sister Thompson did say there is heavy smoke damage through the whole building. What a Gal !!!
